TLDR: Get it here. All the startup guides say that you should launch when you are a bit embarrassed. Well, as a former lean startup evangelist, I’m a bit embarrassed that I broke all the rules with my first app.
I did not start with problem validation; never bothered to validate the solution either. I just vibe designed and built something that would solve my need: create the optimal score tracker for padel and other racket sports, and learn as much as possible while doing it.
Worst of all, I totally messed up the MVP scoping. Instead of a minimum product, I ended up building the most complete feature set that I’m aware of in this category. I call the app Baller Score, and it’s full of custom animations, delicious explosions, and smart details. It has native apps for iOS and Android, WatchOS and Wear OS, with a shared Kotlin Multiplatform core engine.
There is also a real-time backend that drives the courtside scoreboard. The app has an audio announcer, is localised in 8 languages, and knows the rules of padel, tennis, badminton, table tennis, and pickleball.
Design-wise, the biggest innovation is the gesture that lets you collect player-level statistics with a single swipe. You get rich match insights with a simple gesture that won’t interfere with your game.
You don’t only see which team scored, but you know which person was the last to touch the ball. This way, you’ll expose who is the one carrying the team and who cracks under pressure. You discover badges like:

It was also an experimentation of agentic design workflow. Not a single screen was drawn in Figma.
Give it a try and let me know how it fits your style of playing. There must be several statistics ideas and game modes that could be easily added. Most likely some of the localizations are also funny.
